Summer Months
During summer, ventilation is critical due to the extreme temperatures in Texas. We as utility consumers are constantly looking for ways to reduce our utility costs. Several options are: solar screens for windows, LED bulbs, an efficient HVAC system, additional insulation, radiant barrier, etc.
One thing not addressed: Attic Ventilation
Creating and circulating air flow in the 150 degree, air deficient, attic, significantly cools the overall attic space, decreasing the need for your utilities to run as often, in turn, reducing heat transfer into living spaces.
Winter Months
Ok, the value is clear as day when it comes to ventilation in the summer. Is ventilation still important during the winter?
Let's talk about moisture.
In the winter, it is equally important to have a well ventilated attic system because of the moisture created in your home. Moisture seeks cooler, drier spaces: the attic.
On average, a home with 4 people with creates 2-4 gallons of moisture per day by way of cooking, showering, dishwashers, refrigerators, breathing, etc.
An improperly vented attic space will retain the moisture, creating and promoting a breeding ground for mold and mildew growth. Yikes! Looking at you, too, foam insulation!
With proper air exchange, ventilation combats moisture in the air as well as the moisture produced inside your home before it causes mold, mildew, wet insulation, and wood rot.
We are dedicated to build attic airflow systems correctly.
Your Current Roof
Roofing companies tend to fall short of creating balanced attics. While roofers are great at adding exhaust to a new roof, the majority of them do not address the intake of air.
So, you got a new roof recently...
Did your contractor assess your attic?
Was intake discussed?
Was your shingle warranty discussed?
Most manufacturers require a balanced attic system in order for the shingle to be warranted. Without creating appropriate air flow, shingle warranties are void.

What is it?
An overall evaluation of your ventilation system from outside to inside.
While we are committed to correcting improper ventilation systems, not all attic systems will require our help. In order to distinguish between the two, we perform thorough testing.
TexUs Vent Pros utilize the latest technology to conduct all testing procedures.
Visual inspection- Performed outside and inside. Confirmation that there are the appropriate number of intake vents with the correct amount and combination of exhaust vents. Confirmation that intake vents are appropriately operational and not impeded by insulation or any other materials.
Smoke testing- Utilizing a non-toxic fog machine in your attic space, we are able to confirm proper flow or lack there of. Fog should move, not settle. This visual tool also helps determine the quality of ventilation.
Thermal cameras and laser thermometer: Using a FLIR thermal camera, we are able to read current attic temperatures, see where cool and hot spots are, as well as, see where insulation lacks and succeeds.
Anemometer- A useful tool to determine the amount of air flow measured.
